San Francisco Meetup Recap · React Native

by TM

Last week, the writer attended the React Native Meetup at Zynga’s San Francisco office. The event provided a platform to meet other developers and learn more about React and React Native at companies like Zynga, Netflix, and Airbnb. Rapid prototyping in React was demonstrated by Zynga, who use a similar approach to React Native. Netflix discussed designing APIs for React Native and highlighted the two main types of libraries used: platform-specific components and cross-platform libraries. Clarence Leung from Netflix explained the differences in building libraries for Android and iOS. Airbnb showcased their experience of using React Native in existing codebases and discussed the challenges they faced with navigation. They have developed their own library called “airbnb-navigation” to address this issue. The library has not yet been open sourced but Airbnb hopes to release it by the end of the year.
