React Native Open Source Update March 2019 · React Native

by TM

The React Native team has made significant progress in their open source community efforts. They have focused on reducing the number of outstanding pull requests and improving the developer experience. They have reduced the number of open pull requests from 280 to approximately 65 and have seen an increase in the average number of pull requests opened per day. The team has merged two-thirds of the pull requests, fixing bugs, improving cross-platform parity, and introducing new features. They have also worked on the Lean Core project to reduce the surface area of React Native and involve the community in maintaining unused abstractions. The team has addressed user problems, such as upgrading to newer versions of React Native. They are planning to further improve the release management process and involve the community in upcoming releases. Overall, the team is excited about the progress made and will continue to work on improving React Native in the future.
