React Native Open Source Update June 2019 · React Native

by TM

In the past six months, React Native has seen a significant increase in commits and contributions. More than 550 contributors made a total of 2800 commits, with 400 contributors from the community creating over 1,150 Pull Requests, 820 of which were merged. The average number of Pull Requests per day has doubled, despite the splitting of the website, CLI, and modules via the Lean Core effort. The average number of open pull requests has decreased, and feedback is now addressed within a short time frame. Noteworthy contributions include improvements to accessibility APIs, a new app screen design, types for native modules, the removal of the “haste” module system, and the addition of Android Fragments. The Lean Core effort aims to improve maintenance and release frequency, and efforts are being made to reduce the size and improve the performance of React Native. Feedback from users has led to improvements in the upgrading experience, support, and documentation, though areas such as debugging still need more attention. Continuous integration has been enhanced to ensure stability, and upcoming releases and events are anticipated.
