Open Source Roadmap · React Native

by TM

The React Native team has been focused on re-architecting React Native to better support users and collaborators outside of Facebook. Their vision for React Native includes a healthy GitHub repository with timely issue and pull request handling, increased test coverage, and stable APIs. They also aim to have a vibrant ecosystem with high-quality ViewManagers, native modules, and support for multiple platforms maintained by the community. Excellent documentation is another goal, with a focus on helping users create high-quality experiences. To achieve this vision, they plan to reduce the surface area of React Native by removing non-core components and transferring them to the community. They will also release internal tools and improve support for popular tools in the open source community. Other projects on their list include open sourcing JSI, supporting 64-bit libraries on Android, improving debugging, and enhancing support for various build systems. They will also work on strengthening their testing infrastructure to prevent unintentional breaking changes.
