Announcing React Native 0.61 with Fast Refresh · React Native

by TM

We’re excited to announce React Native 0.61, which includes a new reloading experience called Fast Refresh. In response to feedback from the React Native community, the previous “hot reloading” feature has been improved. It now works reliably for function components, updates the screen effectively, and is resilient to typos and mistakes. With Fast Refresh, the existing “live reloading” and “hot reloading” features have been unified into a single feature. Fast Refresh fully supports modern React, including function components and Hooks. It gracefully recovers after mistakes and falls back to a full reload when necessary. Additionally, Fast Refresh does not perform invasive code transformations, making it reliable enough to be enabled by default. Users can easily turn it off in the Dev Menu if desired. Other improvements in React Native 0.61 include fixed CocoaPods support and upgrades to React 16.9. To see all the updates, refer to the 0.61 changelog. Give Fast Refresh a try and let us know your thoughts!
